Alvaro Bautista was in philosophical mood after crashing out from a promising seventh in the Czech Grand Prix, admitting that the pace he and Suzuki were able to demonstrate was some consolation for the disappointing end to his race. Bautista had starred in the early laps as he came through from 14th on the grid to seventh, where he was hounding Valentino Rossi and keeping pace with the pack ahead of him until his accident at Turn 13 on his 16th tour of the trac. Given his excellent race, the 26-year-old Spaniard described his crash as 'very disappointing' but said he and the team could also draw positives about their pace during the race

Kanaan confirmed for Surfers event
Tony Kanaan has become the latest driver to confirm his presence for the Armor All Gold Coast 600 event at Surfers Paradise in October. The 2004 IndyCar champion will race alongside Jason Bargwanna in the Jana Living Racing Commodore. The Brazilian joins other former IndyCar champions like Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon and Sebastien Bourdais.

Stoner open to racing at Motegi
Casey Stoner is now open to the idea of competing at the Japanese Grand Prix, having previously said that racing at the Motegi event was out of the question. The 2007 world champion insisted after the British Grand Prix that he would not travel to the Japanese race in October over fears about the radiation levels in that area, following a leak at a nuclear facility only 100 miles from the circuit in March

Power/Franchitti tension simmers on
Tension between IndyCar Series championship rivals Dario Franchitti and Will Power continued to simmer in Mid-Ohio after the pair made contact again on the opening lap of the race. Relations between the two had already turned sour in July after Power suggested that Franchitti should have received a penalty for tipping him in to a spin at Toronto - the Scot going on to win the race. Franchitti then accused Power of trying to do the same thing on the first lap of the race at Mid-Ohio on Sunday as the pair fought over third position.

The iRacing.com Street Stock Series traveled to South Boston, Virginia to the famed 0.4 mile “SoBo” oval to start Season Three of 2011. This week brought new faces to the top of the series points standings as sim racers look to dethrone back-to-back champion Nick Ottinger (Carolina). Weekly High Strength of Field Josh Wronkowski (Florida) got off to a strong start this season with a win in this week’s high Strength of Field (SoF) race which paid 165 points. Wronkowski dominated the race from the pole position, leading all 40 laps in route to a 2.8 second win over Brandon Atkinson (Carolina). Welch: Proton can be front-runner
British Touring Car team boss John Welch believes the new Proton Gen-2 can be a future frontrunner in the series after its first track appearances at Snetterton on Saturday. Daniel Welch drove the front-wheel-drive Swindon-engined NGTC car in both free practice sessions on the Snetterton 300 circuit. With no track running beforehand, the car suffered some minor teething problems, such as high water temperatures and power steering issues, but completed 16 laps.
